Vittoriosa 1565 is dedicated to the Knights of the Order of St. John, known as the Order of Malta, and to the people of the Maltese Islands, particularly those from Birgu. They were honored for their bravery during the Great Seige of Malta by Grand Master Jean Parisot de Vallette, who bestowed the title of ‘Cittá Vittoriosa’ upon the town in the wake of their victory on September 8, 1565.
